What is the maximum occupancy of the house?
The Main Residence has 5 bedrooms and sleeps a maximum of 10. The Lower Residence has 2 bedrooms and sleeps a maximum of 4.
Can the Lower Residence be booked individually?
The Lower Residence may only be booked as part of a Whole House reservation and cannot be booked individually. The Main House, however, may be booked on its own in which case the door between the two residences will be locked.
If I book only the Main Residence, could the Lower Residence be used by another guest?
The Lower Residence may only be booked as part of a Whole House reservation. However, if you were to book only the Main Residence, the Lower Residence may occasionally be used by the owner and their friends and family. The door between the Main Residence and the Lower Residence will be locked.
Do you have cribs for infants?
We have two pack-and-play cribs for infants in the main house and one pack-and-play in the lower residence. We also have rails for toddlers that can be fitted to one of the twin beds in Bedroom #5 in the main house (the rails only extend part-way down the sides of the bed).
Are guests permitted to bring other guests into the house?
Of course! However, to respect the rights of neighbors a maximum of 6 non-resident guests are permitted at any time if booking only the Main House, or 8 if booking the Whole House. All guests must leave by 10pm.
Is the kitchen stocked for holiday entertaining?
Yes! The kitchens in both the Main Residence and the Lower Residence are well stocked with cookware, utensils and serving ware including a turkey roasting pan. We also have a wide range of dried herbs, spices and condiments available for guest use. We just ask that you replace any that you finish.
Do you have parking spots?
There is no overnight on-street parking in Vail, and very little daytime on-street parking. There is no parking on our street. Gore Creek Lodge has off-street parking for 2-3 cars (depending on size) reserved for the Main Residence, one of which is in the garage. The Lower Residence has space reserved for one car in the driveway. However, we recommend minimizing car use and using the free Vail bus which stops just steps away from the house.
How close is the nearest stop for the free Vail bus?
The bus stop is just steps away from the house, and it runs regularly from early morning to late evening. The one-two minute walk is along Gore Creek, so it is relatively flat and easy to walk even in ski boots. Beware of other rentals advertising a short walk, but omitting to mention that it is up a steep icy hill! You can take your skis and boards on the bus, which stops at Cascade Village, Lionshead, Vail Village and Golden Peak.
Is there storage provided for skis, boards, boots and bikes?
Yes, space is provided in the garage to store skis, boards, boots and bikes. These must not be stored in the house (including ski/boarding boots). We provide a bench in the garage so that you can change into and out of boots.
Is the house accessible to people with disabilities?
Unfortunately the house is not wheelchair accessible. Please also note that there is one flight of exterior steps to access the lower residence and two flights to access the main house. In the Main Residence, Master Bedroom 1 and Bedroom 5 are on an upper floor accessed by stairs.
Are the gardens accessible to renters?
Unfortunately not. The house has an alpine rock garden by the entry pathways. For safety reasons and to protect the plants, there is no access to walk within the garden but it can be appreciated from the pathways. The house also has a yard on the lower level of the west side of the house that is surrounded by pine trees and which we have planted with wild grass and flowers. This area is private and not accessible to guests.
Are the decks safe for children?
The decks have horizontal wire fences which could pose a risk to young children if climbed. The hot tub on the back deck also poses a risk to young children. Consequently young children are not permitted on either deck without adult supervision.
